Remaining Useful Life

Also known as: RUL

The estimated number of years a common area component will continue to function before it needs to be repaired or replaced. Remaining useful life is determined during the physical analysis portion of a reserve study and is used to calculate when reserve funds will be needed for each component. Factors include age, condition, usage patterns, and maintenance history.
